You Tell Me

Our neighbors are adding something to their house, but we can't figure out what exactly this addition IS. Ibis guessed storage, but then they closed off the walls. I'm guessing that they're expanding the rooms, but doing it in a really bass ackwards way.

So. What do YOU think?

(He Robin) It's got me stumped. Can't be room enlargments because the wall they would be removing is a load bearing wall and the roof would colapse if they removed it. Can't figure it out. Keep us updated.

Hi Robin! Long time no see. :)

I'll be sure to let everyone know if we figure it out.

I can't tell which is the new part -- the metal roof or the tile roof?

Is it new living (separate) quarters for the family members driving them crazy? ;)

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Mom, there are two separate houses with a stretch of dirt between them. The house on the left is adding was looks to be four spaces that are roughly 2-3 feet by 8 feet.

Janna, ha!

Ninja training facility. Definitely.

Zombie safehouse. Totally.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

ROFL! Adam, it would definitely get them used to fighting in the dark...

Stacey, *snicker*

In-law suite?

Is the roof to the right transparent? It's a greenhouse; they're growing giggle weed.

It looks like they want to use them to catch rain water. Perhaps something to do with plants. Maybe patio gardens?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Lurker, THAT'S scary!

Melanie Hooyenga said...

ROFL!! Giggle weed.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

JLC, I actually guessed that maybe it was for water storage -- I don't think those houses have running water so it could be some sort of cistern.

A new drum studio, where a teenage garage band will practice late into the night.

Wendy, bite your tongue!!

LOL! Wow. NO idea, here. :-)

I think it looks like those rooms people used to hide Jews in during World War II. Or bodies... Are they like, drug cartel? LOL!

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Natasha, something had to have crossed your mind...

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Elana, I know it shouldn't, but your response made me laugh the loudest. Drug cartel isn't too far off in this neighborhood...

It could be an addition to the rooms.
It would not be impossible to shift a load bearing wall.
They could either shift the weight or distribute it across the openings.

But that would be a messed up way of doing it. I would need better pictures to make a better guess.
Have you thought to ask?????

You want us to TALK to our neighbors? *shudders* Then they'd know we stare at them, lol.

I just checked and they have cut a doorway into the wall, so it looks like they might be closets.

That's my new bedroom! We're going to be neighbors!

Can I borrow some sugar?

Travis Erwin said...

Looks like a concrete form to me. Maybe they are reinforcing their walls?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Allen, ROFL!! You can have some sugar as long as you don't mind a few bugs in it.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Travis, construction here is different from in the US and they use a LOT of concrete, so who knows.

Ed Wyrd said...

Mass graves. I'd be careful, Mel.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

ROFL!! You guys are killing me.

Er...

Robin said...

It's clearly something horrible and involving dead bodies. That much is for sure. As to whether it's for zombies, vampires, or chopped up mass murder victims - that's where you've got me stumped.

Nadine said...

Interesting! Looks like they are expanding their rooms, but kinda a lot of work for only a little space!

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Robin, that angle is killing me (pun intended) because it didn't occur to me but all of you are thinking of it!

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Nadine, that's what I thought. They're only getting a couple feet of depth for all that work!
