A Week Early, Sort Of

In light of the fact that I'm leaving for the states next Wednesday and that also happens to be our third wedding anniversary, we're celebrating today.

Technically today IS our anniversary. We had a civil ceremony a week before the church wedding and reception, but decided to celebrate on the 26th. Ironically, five months after we were married we started the process for his US visa and we have to use the LEGAL wedding date for all things immigration-related. So we end up recognizing both days.

I say we just have a week-long celebration. :)

I'm still not sure what we're doing -- there was talk of paying to hang out at a hotel pool for the afternoon (it includes drinks & food) but we might just go to dinner. I'm worried about leaving Owen by himself for the entire day when he's just figuring out the house-training thing.

By the way, what's the third anniversary "thing"? Wood? Paper? Chalk?

Week long celebrations are a tradition among the early Judeo-Christian world.

In the nudist world, there is often two wedding days, one the textiles are willing to attend, and one that is usually held at the nudist resort or club where everyone is dressed in their lifelong suit. I have officiated over both ends of a dual wedding. It is fun to see the differences in the two.

Happy Anniversary. I hope you have many more together in love and peace.

Congrats on the anniversary! :-)

The third anniversay "thing", is pretty shiny things for the woman, and a book token for the man.

*cough*

Honest.

Leather and Crystal......

I have so many images in my head right now I could not put them into words.

My web search says the third anniversary is celebrated with leather. I won't say more...

Anyhow, congrats! And here's to getting *BOTH* of you home soon!

*wonders how much a plane ticket to Chicago costs right now*

You all are funny today!

Thanks Allen!

Adam, I think my shiny thing is something furry named Owen.

Penguin, hmm... I think I'll leave it at that!

MOM!!

Thanks JLC!

Janna, I think you're on to something.

Thanks Mel2! My plane tickets cost $300, but I doubt that fare is still available. And the mule probably costs extra.

Happy Anniversary! I hope both you and Ibis have a wonderful week!

If Owen is in the crate, he should be ok for a few hours. We left the puppy in the crate from about 8:15am to around noon, and she was fine. Go have a great time!!

Congratulations!!! I thought the third anniversary gift was thoroughly chewed gum. That's what my husband told me.

Natasha, if it's one of your stories... :P

Thanks Nadine. I am too!

Erica, you mean we're supposed to put the dog IN the crate? Not just block our bedroom door with it? We've been blocking him in the kitchen when we go to the gym and he's been good in there -- no peeing or anything.

Robin, I do love a good piece of chewed gum...

Congrats, Melanie! Three years is awesome in this day and age. Heck, I'm excited that my ninth anniversary is coming up soon!

I hope you and Ibis have a wonderful week - and that Owen survives a night alone. I'll pray for any valuables you might have.

Incidentally, I love that anniversary gifts now come in pairs - for the third, as others have said, the traditional gift is leather and the modern one is crystal/glass. The weird thing, for me, is that glass seems like it should be the traditional one... leather, after all, has a more contemporary feel... maybe that's just where my mind is - in the gutter, as usual.

Congrats!

And definitely go for the leather. I'd suggest other things too, but since your mom is reading this, I'll be demure.
