Preparing

I'm leaving tomorrow for two weeks so as you can expect, I'm running around getting everything ready. Laundry and cleaning will take up the bulk of today -- cleaning because I'm a good wife and figure at the very least I should leave my husband with a clean house -- and sadly, I don't think writing is going to happen.

I had high hopes yesterday that I'd start at least one of the final chapters, but life keeps getting in the way. Plus it's a thousand degrees out. At 6pm, when I tried for the zillionth time to open the document, Owen was curled up on a frozen towel, cuddling an ice cube. I'm not exaggerating. I tried to get a picture but our neighbor distracted him by opening their door just as I aimed the camera, and then the ice cube melted.

That said, I'm really excited about my trip. Not only will I see lots of friends & family, I'll be meeting several online friends. Amy and I are meeting in Chicago, then Rachel, Natasha, Jenna (who I know, obviously, but she doesn't know the other ladies) and I are getting together at a small Absolute Write get-together. Yay!!

The writing will have to happen when it happens.

Absolutely. Don't stress yourself out about the writing, because you'll only put a hamper on your trip. And you deserve an awesome trip!

The writing will be ready when you return (or get a free moment while you're gone), and you've always been successful before. You'll get it done.

Janna, you're right. You know how we were talking the other day about setting deadlines for ourselves? My frustration comes from the fact that I've completely blown this one. I've been working on this for over a month and I feel like I should be further along. Oh well.

Mel, Natasha will be there Wednesday night? I didn't know that. I know her, in the blog sense. How fun!

YAY! This is when setting the writing aside is the right thing to do. :)

Jenna, she decided she wants to drive up so we can meet. I thought it'd be doubly cool since you two sort of "know" each other too. She doesn't know the AW people either.

Amy, I'm so glad we got everything worked out! I seem to have blanked on downtown Chicago, lol.

Yes, I'm going to print out the last couple pages of my wip and hope that's enough if I get inspired.

And have a blast at your writer meeting! I'm so jealous!

*looks around and wonders what to do without Melanie online for two weeks*
