Chihuahuas

I think I've mentioned that my friend has a three-month old Chihuahua named Lucky. I go to her house a couple times a week and spend half my time playing with this ball of love:

Ugh, doesn't he just melt your heart? She has two Chihuahuas and two cats, one of each are two years old and the other two are babies. Here are the kitten and puppy playing:

A couple days ago she called us from the vet's office to tell us they had two Chihuahua puppies for sale. We've wanted a dog for quite some time and almost bought one while we were still in Chicago, but held off since we knew we might be moving. These puppies were very cute, looked healthy, and we could buy them both for a good price, but it all felt too rushed. The condo needs to be "baby-proofed" and since Ibis had to go to work, the thought of me having to get everything ready and buy supplies with two squirmy puppies was just too much.

That's when the vet told us Lucky's parents are having another litter in three months. That timing works much better because we'll be back from our trip to Acapulco and my trip to the States in September, and I'll have all my time to housebreak four-pound puppies. Best of all, they'll have a better chance of looking just like this:

I was just looking at puppies last night! I have four cats, so I shouldn't even be thinking about it. But DH is gone, so this is my only chance ... :-)

How are things going with the whole returning-to-the-States thing?

We don't expect to hear anything until next winter, December at the earliest. That's a big reason we decided to get a dog - if we were leaving sooner we wouldn't, but I really need a plaything!

I know, I try to steal him every time I'm over there. He turns men and women into blubbering, cooing idiots. :)

Okay, what you need is to adopt a young boy. I just happen to have a 19 year old whose tuition is paid up through September. I can let you have him for a song.

Should I send him now? Or wait for the weekend rates to kick in?

Don't forget to send in the tuition check in September. I'll have the school forward you the bill.

With all the talk of nerves walking in Mexico. I don't think a chihauhau has that frightening look! Then again a dog as big as yourself doesn't work well either.

I assume there aren't any allergy problems with chihuahuas? They definitely are cute...

So far, no. They do shed but since they're so tiny the overall amount of hair isn't that much. I've stopped taking my allergy meds and I've been fine with them.
