Squeaky Wheel

This isn't what I was referring to yesterday, but hey, I'll take it!

When I called immigration last week, the lovely woman there told me to call this Thursday, but didn't say why. When I called in the morning she told me to come in at 12:30 to sign some papers, but again didn't give me much of an explanation. I had to wait half an hour before she finally stuck her head through the window and said she just had to make a copy of my FM3 and then she'd call me back.

I had no idea it was ready!

Back I went, where I signed my name a bazillion times, then stamped my thumbprints all over the place (hence the purple thumb in the picture above). She told me a whole list of rules I need to follow if and when I leave the country, some of which I didn't quite understand, but I assume that as long as I let them know when I plan to leave, there shouldn't be a problem.

Now if only we could do something about that other visa...

Yay! How grand!

And that purple is a lovely shade on you.

One down, one to go. Glad to hear the good news :) Instead of a green thumb you have a purple thumb, I guess that means you are good at planting plums??

Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks Janna. There is now a lovely purple thumbprint on the book I'm reading.

EMC, I'll have to give that a try. Or purple popcicles -- I like those too. :P

Hope the rest of the "package" comes soon.

Woo hoo! Finally. Any word on the other visa?

Pink, I don't wanna be a Mexican!

*wails*

Wendy, I'm going to pretend you didn't ask that. :D

Hey that is great news.
Purple thumbs are fine.
Just one question, Does it taste like a plumb when you turn the pages in the book?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Penguin, funny you should ask. I accidentally licked my thumb and it did NOT taste good.

Woo hoo! Now you can vote in Iraq (what with the purple thumb and all)!

Amen to that! And they are slow-*ss squeaky wheels. Although this has been exceedingly quick in comparison to Ibis's process!

WOOOT! YAY!

Lurker, ROFL!!

Spy, with my process they were actually "processing" for two months. With him we're just waiting in a long line for the case to even BE processed. I assume they haven't even gotten to us yet, it's not that they're just taking a long time to review.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Thanks Colby! That's one less thing to worry about.

Finally! After two months you are now officially Mexican! (Well, almost - the big question is... can you make Mole sauce from scratch?) ;)

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Ha, I don't know about being a Mexican... I'm just allowed to stick around for a year at a time. :P

"Can" I make mole is misleading. Yes, I can make mole from scratch. Does Ibis want to eat it? That remains to be seen...

Yay!!! I hope this is the precursor and foreshadowing to the next Visa!!

Nadine, ME TOO.

Yey! Congrats :)

Wow, congrats! You must be so relieved.

So is your husband trying to get a Visa that will get him into the US? What's the plan?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Thanks Lauren. :)

Ben, yes, we're waiting for his visa. If you look at my sidebar there's a link called Hoo Am I: The Answers that explains everything.

Yay! A little progress is better than no progress. But more progress would be even nicer!
