Words aren't needed here, but I do want to point out how cool it is to have a fellow lefty in office.

Oh! I love the one of his littlest giving him a thumbs-up. So sweet!

Those crowds were mind-blowing, weren't they? Yowza!

Janna, I just adore his family. Did you hear the girls had a scavenger hunt in the White House while their parents were at the balls?

Jen, INSANE! Two of my college roommates were there and have been posting pictures.

A lefty! Does that me we need to pay extra taxes to have all the door handles in the white house moved to the other side of the door?

(hehe)

Turkey, ROFL! Nah... we lefties are very adept at figuring things out for you righties. Although there was a certain dressing room door in Chicago that I always cut my hand on.

I also heard they watched movies in the WH theater. How awesome is that?

That IS cool! I wonder if any of the girls got lost in there...

I had no idea he was a lefty! For whatever reason, a lot of good pianists are lefties.

I love the one where his daughter is giving him a thumbs up.

Spy, I only discovered that recently. You know they say only left-handed people are in their right minds?

Wasn't yesterday wonderful? I'd love to have had a seat in the VIP section. Hell, Bush could have given me his; he didn't want to be there.

As for lefties: the incidence of left-handedness among mathematicians is significantly greater than its incidence in the general population. Think about it.

Stephen, I commented to my dad that I wouldn't want to be there if I were Bush; he looked miserable. And Obama's speech made it clear he wanted nothing to do with Bush's policies. I know we all knew that already, but I felt bad for him having to sit right there while everyone cheered his exit.

I know a lot of weird trivia about lefties. At the ad agency I used to work for, 3 out of the 6 designers were all left-handed so we used to joke that was a requirement.

When my mom was little they made lefties learn to do everything right handed. We tell her that probably led to her addled brain. :)

Robin, I grew up hearing those stories and I'm so glad no one forced me to switch. Lefties tend to be fairly ambidextrous anyways, but I'd hate to be forced into it.

Ok, here is a bit of information about me I never told you.
And if you bring it back on me I will deny I wrote it.
I was a lefty, my brother told me not to us my left hand, I wouldn't want to be picked on like my older sister. He was right so I learned to use my right hand.
I think because of that, I can use my left hand for everything.
I even shave the left side of my face with my left hand. My hand writing is just as bad with my left as with my right. Well maybe if I take my time the left looks a bit better.
If you look at the way I write you will see it has a lefty slant.
My brothers and sisters does also.
But she is the only one who uses her left hand.
I just was heartbroken when I saw the railing got painted white. It looked so beautiful in wood. I got pictures if you would like to see what it looked like in natural wood.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Penguin, this all sounds very familiar so I feel like you've told me this before. Perhaps after one two many beers of the world?

Railing? Am I missing something?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Oh, duh! And that's so mean they made you switch!

Robin said...

Penguin, I'm kind of freaked out, here. For some reason, I always pictured you as a girl. You're not a girl with a beard, are you? Not that anything's wrong with that!

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Robin, he's a big burly guy! I think I come up to his chest. :)

Hello fellow writer! How are you doing?

Allen said...

Melanie, it is the mark of character to stand tall when others are causing you pain. Bush offered Obama the best the White House has to offer before Obama took office, a luxury Bush himself never received. (Remember the W's removed from the keyboards, typewriters, and security stations?)

Differing in policy is much different that taking personal attacks like the Obama crowd did at Bush's leaving, something the President condemns. (showing the character Obama possesses.)I think the people of the US could learn much from our leaders.

Damn, how did I get on this soapbox?

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Allen, all excellent points. I'd forgotten about the keyboards...

Great pics. That is so cute that the girls were having a scavenger hunt in the white house.

Wow, Dubya aged a lot! I think this is why we haven't had our first female president yet. No woman has braved the risk of accelerated aging.

Zoe, lol!
