The Bare Naked Ladies Say It Much Better

I'm a little worried about what kind of hits I'll get by putting that as my title, but what the heck, it's Friday! I woke up this morning with this song in my head. (Jen, Janna, and Turkey, I apologize for starting the CrackTube so early.)

(click the link, this post will make more sense that way.)

So apparently reading about vampires means I stop sleeping at night. I was very good yesterday and worked on my query and synopsis for five hours, then read a couple chapter from my Dreamweaver book before picking up the shiny black book. I figured I'd finish it by midnight, maybe 1am. Wrong again - 4am! Ugh.

I think my problem is unlike some of you skimmers out there, I tend to hover over particularly delicious phrases, rereading them until they are locked in my brain. I'm sure those of you who read it are thinking to yourselves, "Delicious phrases? All I saw were ridiculous adverbs and an abundance of sighing," but Stephenie Meyers sure knows how to build up sexual tension. For those of you who haven't read it, there's only minimal kissing; the rest is all build-up.

Where am I going with all this? Ummmm, let's just say suddenly I'm even more excited about my mom and sister arriving tomorrow because my sister has promised to wrestle New Moon (the second in the series) way from my niece. I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait until they leave to start reading. I also might have to ask her to bring all three of the books.

I need help.

The good news about my whacked out sleep schedule is I'll be able to stay up a little later with my sister. I'm sure we'll be going out and staying awake past 10pm is usually helpful when you have houseguests. :P

*****

It's not that big of a deal, but my hits have passed 20,000! Woohoo!

LOVE the BNL. And wow, that acoustic guitar is just awesome!

You make me giggle! Glad you loved the book.

Janna, I listened to all my favorites from them this morning. If you haven't heard it, check out their version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - I love it!

I'm having serious withdrawal this morning.

Then...

"Where am I going with all this?"

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting a reference to your mom and sister.

LOL

Oh, I tried my best to keep this comment PG.

Nice. I was up reading until 4 or 5 the other morning; it wrecks me for days!

The dreamweaver book sounds rough though. I'm midway through the Adobe Premier Elements manual and it's brutal. Everytime I read these things I kick myself for not being a technical writer!

Congrats on the hits!

And I love that band too.

AC, I can only blame that on my lack of sleep. :) And nice work keeping it clean, lol.

Rachel, two days in a row is a bit much for me.

So far the DW book seems ok, but I'm at the point now where I have work in the program along with the book so I think I'll wait until my family leaves. And I hear you on the technical writing...

Thanks Lauren! I used to listen to BNL non-stop.

Wow, a Cracktube blast from the past!

He was pretty good, too. :)

As for your newly developed Twilight fetish? *excessive sighs*

*grin*

Congrats on the hits!

Jen,

*sigh*

I really think I'm being ridiculous, but there's just nothing I can do.

*sigh*

I know it's bad for me, but I'd rather die than not read any more.

*sigh*

The Bathroom Sessions? That's kind of cool! After I had an eight year old who had a Bare Naked Ladies birthday party, I never tried them. I don't know why, LOL.

Totally agree with what you said. As soon as characters kiss or whatever, you lose the sexual tension, and you have to rebuild it all over again.

Melanie Avila said...

Spy, I don't know what the Bathroom Sessions are about but it was the only version of the song I could find, aside from someone's cell phone video at a concert.

At least with this book she keeps the tension going because every time they kiss something bizarre happens & they're always interrupted.

Never got into Twilight, but more power to you for loving it. Isn't it fun to find something you just enjoy so much you can't wait to read the next?

May you have 20k more!!

I was the same way with Twilight as you are with New Moon. Couldn't put it down...

I love reading books in one sitting, but I no longer can stay up till 4. That's why I stick to shorter books :-).

Melanie Avila said...

Colby, I resisted it for a long time because I don't read YA, but now I'm hooked!

Melanie Avila said...

Pink, someone told me New Moon & Eclipse aren't as good as Twilight, but that Breaking Dawn is as good as the first one. I'm practically drooling!

But - I'm going to force myself to stop at a reasonable hour from now on!

hehe I JUST got my sleep schedule fixed. :D But for how long? Only the vampires know the answer to that one.

Zoe, I made it to bed by 12:30 last night, so I'm improving. :)
