Public Service Message

This video has been on several blogs I read daily but I feel the need to include it here as well.

It scares the living bejeezus out of me to think there are people in the US who think Sarah Palin will be good for our country. The fact that the Republican Party thought women would only see a pair of breasts and scream "Hallelujah! Hillary didn't make it to the final round but we get to have a woman in the White House anyways!" makes me ashamed they're one half of our political machine.

The one positive thing I've heard about her is she's the only one who has actual governing experience, as opposed to Obama, Biden, or McCain, but that alone does not make a good leader. George Ryan anyone?

I don't get into politics here for a reason, but this is too important to ignore. Yes, Obama lacks international experience, but at least he recognizes that and chose a running-mate who makes up for his limitations. The odds are fair that McCain could die in office and our country will be run by a person that seems most popular for her Japanese glasses and beauty pageant photos.

I must say, well done Katie Couric for not laughing in her face.

Well done indeed, Katie!! I don't think I could have been that strong. Was it just me, or was she basically saying "Of course I have dealt with the Russians. I've said "hi" to Putin when he landed in customs!

Oh lord *smacks head*

That one actually hurt a little bit more than when I smack my head for our current US leader.

I respect your hesitancy in discussing politics, for I'm the same way. And I can't well enough articulate my thoughts today, so I'm not going to try. But I am ready to watch the debates tonight to better arm myself with information.

I will say, however, I'm leaning heavily toward McCain and Palin.

*waves white flag* ;)

Terra, welcome! I think I saw Katie smirk a couple times.

Janna, I respect anyone's decision to support who they want, I just want to hear real reasons why they're the best option for our country. I'm the same way with Bush. I cannot stand him, but I enjoy discussing him with people who can spout more than sound bites about how he stood up to the evil empire. I guess what I dislike the most is when people don't make the decision for themselves, you know?

I can't wait for the debates either! Good thing McCain decided to do it.

Couric's facial expressions are priceless.

Melanie, I'm so glad you mentioned Katie! I thought she looked like she was going to laugh a couple of times. Like when Palin couldn't think of the word "mocked". Yes, that would be the word. Or ridiculed, made fun of, reviled, scorned, laughed at. I certainly laughed!
And Janna, I don't even know you, but I love you anyway! That's what having a free country is all about. Everyone has the right to their own opinion.

AC, yes, yes they are.

Robin, I really need to watch the rest of the interview. From what I hear it's more of the same.

Katie Couric was AMAZING. She was PERFECT. There was no one better to interview Palin. Katie was so composed, well-spoken, and intelligent. It was the perfect contrast to Palin. That was one of the most amazingly done interviews I've ever seen.

Palin had to be difficult to interview, you know?

Spy, you said it. I always like Katie on The Today Show and I know she's taken a lot of heat since switching to the evening news. I hope this gives her a bit more credibility.

At least there's one woman making sense in the interview.

Yes, let's all make the decision for ourselves! Not what the nightly news tells us we should think, not what Oprah says we should believe and not what cute little ol', well groomed journalist Katie Couric thinks. If it really boils down to whether someone can rattle us a little and make us choke on our words why is Katie Couric not running?

I don't normally respond to anonymous posters, but do you care to further explain yourself? I'm reading your statement negatively - that you're calling us sheep - but I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt before commenting on how brave you are to state your opinion anonymously.

Yes, but her governing experience is in ALASKA. You can almost get a moose elected to office there.

Palin terrifies me. This is a woman who wants to control the uterus of every female cause her god told her to. That's enough to have me screaming. I wish McCain had picked a different running mate, because I don't think he would be a horrible president.

After the debate last night I think Obama's road is gonna get a little harder.

Personally I think the two should drop their running mates and McCain should be prez, with Obama as Vice Prez.

That's something I could really get behind.

This interview is too funny. I thought I was aware how stupid Palin is, but now I have more confirmation than I'd ever need. What a joke.

Junosmom said...

Wow. I hadn't seen that until now, but had heard about it. Scary.

Boo, did I scare you? That snippet of the interview did not steer me away from my opinion.

This is a hard one to respond to, however, since others felt the need to wave their position so high, I decided to go for it. I'm still amazed at the level of ignorance in this country.

There it is, my opinion!
;)

Aaron & Junosmom, I showed it to more people today. Just unbelievable

Kris, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Now I refuse to talk to you any more about it, lol. :D
