So Apparently Vanilla Means Dark Brown

Like many women across the globe, I color my hair every couple months. I used to go to a salon, where Andreas would give me three different colored highlights, but now I use Garnier Nutrisse. Considering I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to home hair color, a mistake here and there should be expected. Up until now, however, it's been smooth sailing.

I've played around with colors - I was really blond over the winter - and lately I've gone a shade darker each time. Nothing drastic, just a slight shift. Well, I tried a new color, Vanilla, and this is what happened:

In case you don't see the problem, please look at yesterday's post and the picture there. Quite a difference, eh?

The good news is NO ONE talked to me this morning. They didn't even look at me. Perhaps I should've done this months ago.

I think it looks very pretty! I use the expensive, wider box kind that automatically does highlights, supposedly. And I'm never careful. I go from REALLY BLONDE to the darkest brown I can find, to RED.

I've wondered about those highlight kits. Red? Hmmm. I don't think I have that in me, lol. You're very brave!

It looks great! Do you like it?

I'm undecided. Last night I hated it, this morning it's ok. I just gave myself a little trim & an attempt at layers, so we'll see what happens when it's dry.

Maybe it meant vanilla as in the color of vanilla flavoring, which is really dark brown. Either way, it does look good!

Possibly, lol. I've always heard vanilla as a description of skin tone, as in "you're so vanilla." :)

I think it looks nice. Highlights might be very nice with that color.

I can't believe you cut your own hair. Then again, I just got a bad haircut where the guy screwed up my bangs (think Mamie Eisenhower), so maybe I would have been better off doing it myself.

Wendy, my hair is very basic. If I had anything stylized I would NOT attempt it on my own!

I like it. Its a warm color that brings out your eyes.

I don't dye yet, but I know that soon I'll have to. I do cut my own hair sometimes. Sometimes its good...other times I just hide in the house for a few months...

I didn't cut much, just a little so it's not all one length.

Thanks Colby.

Auria, that's strange. Can you normally see my pictures?
