'Tis the Season

It's that time of year again. The last of the rainclouds have floated away and with the permanent sunshine comes the tourists. In previous winters we've had an average of 1-2 cruise ships per week, but they stopped coming at the end of February, I'm assuming because of the triple whammy that struck Mexico last year: drug violence, swine flu, and the tanking economy.

None of those factors have gone away, but like anything, the more we hear about a problem in the news, etc, the more apathetic we become. People want to get on with their lives and if a cruise along the Pacific coast of Mexico is what they want, they won't let a little danger/sickness/lack of funds stop them!

In all seriousness, we have noticed an increase in the number of non-Mexicans strolling around downtown, even on days when there isn't a floating hotel in the bay.

Do you have any travel plans this winter, or is the economy keeping you home?

This picture was taken from the roof of our building. Not a bad view, eh?

No travel plans for us, sadly. Unless you count actually moving from in front of my computer screen as traveling :)

Barring the odd day out, my family rarely holidays. :-)

I'm happy where I am, anyway. :)

We are skiing. Again.

I want to run up to Phoenix once, and over to Los Angeles once, but that's about it. I think even when we buy our fifth wheel, we might stay put for six months in Arizona in the winter, and then travel the other six months. I guess it depends.

Nope, no travel plans this winter. We decided not to go home for the holidays. I'm really trying to plan a fun trip somewhere in February but I don't have enough airlines miles yet, and since we're being really careful on money, I don't think I'll get enough in time. But we'll see!

Lurker, that's the extent of my travels too.

Adam, I long for that contentedness. You're a lucky man. :)

Wendy, you sound very excited. Are you going to actually ski, or just camp out in front of the fire?

Natasha, that sounds like plenty of traveling to me. It'll be good to have some roots.

Nadine, I like traveling in off-peak times. Breaks up the winter blahs.

Forgot to say - In May, I shall (hopefully) be off to Canada to see my sweetie. :D

Oh, I'll make another feeble attempt at skiing down the green runs a couple of times before calling it a day.

Cool picture! Awesome view :) No plans as of yet. I usually go see a good friend in L.A. but with the hubs unemployed still, not sure if that will happen, maybe *crosses fingers*

Wendy, I wish I could go to help you!

Elana, that sounds wonderful to me.

Erica, I worry that's the case for a lot of people this year. I wonder if prices will drop since no one is flying.

I like your blog. I have been traveling but for business not pleasure. The people that I know that travel are taking shorter trips this year.

I like your blog this is my first visit.
