Shiny New Idea

I haz one.

It's too soon to share details, but I've been hoping something would come to me in time for my trip home, and it has.

Right now I'm getting to know my main character and figuring out the plot. Thinking about the story for several weeks before actually writing worked well for me with NaNo last year, and I'm hoping the same will be true this time around. This is another women's fiction and I'm beginning to think that's my niche.

This makes the third novel idea that's really grabbed me, and as this will be my third novel, I've got my fingers crossed that I can see it all the way through.

Have you had an idea really grab you lately? About anything?

I did as a matter of fact. I wrote the end to the book I'm working on in the shower last night! 2nd time that's happened. I need a waterproof laptop! :D

That's awesome! I get a lot of ideas in the bathroom too. And not just with writing -- works for design too. ;)

No big new ideas for me, just little things I needed to work out with my WIP.

Yay for new ideas!

Bathrooms rock for ideas. I'm thinking that when I finally move, I'll tile every room and put a shower in each corner in the hopes of tricking my muse. ;-)

PS - Huh, there's a thought. My muse is watching me in the shower! EEP!

PPS - No great ideas lately, unfortunately. ;(

Yay! That's great news!

And I've had a super idea grab on and tug tug tug. But I have to finish my current one first!

Yes, that maybe fiction is not my forte :(.

Ideas were flying at me last summer and early fall, but since November, I am all dried up. (for now)

Im excited for you and your new idea!

Wendy, you're working on a new wip, right? One of the ideas you had talked about before?

Adam, I LOVE that idea. I do have tile floors, so maybe I should just lay on the floor when I need inspiration.

Janna, I'm jealous of your ability to come up with new ideas. And I love the one that's tugging at you.

Jenna, noooooo. :(

JLC, but one of those ideas ended in PUBLICATION, so you get a pass.

Yes ... at the worst possible time. I was just transitioning from editing one novel back to the one I was in the middle of, when I got a very commercial, very funny idea that I just loved. I spent two weeks agonizing over which one to pursue and finally decided to go ahead with the original one ... I realized my SNI wasn't really fully developed yet and it would be folly to chase it down too early.

Congrats! My muse has taken a permanent vacay. And it's starting to annoy me.

Yay for your new idea! I told you about the book on the subconcious I'm reading. It's almost scary how my mind has opened up (in dreams and reality) to receiving ideas. The other morning I dreamt an entire plot for a screenplay. I can barely do that when I'm awake.

Lurker, maybe I'm lucky that I don't get many ideas. At least that allows me to stick with one story until I'm ready to work on the next one. Did you ever write that other idea?

Elana, this is only the third time my muse has answered my call, and I'm grateful.

Lisa, that's so wonderful that the book helped you so much. I've had a couple writing books help me and I've found that flipping through them at the start of a new draft gets my gears turning.

Yay for new ideas! I love when I get a new one. I did have one I got while lying in bed (that's where a lot of them come- no distractions)

I'm not sure what to think of it yet, but I've started the second book in the series I'm doing. So that's where my head is right now :o)

Enjoy simmering your idea!

Good luck!

I don't have any big ideas right now. More like several, conflicting shiny ideas as I work on my latest draft. I'm sort of trying them all out to see which ones to go with.

I'm so excited for your new idea!!

Unfortunately no new ideas have come to me recently, besides the idea that I should really find a way to bring money into the house instead of spending it :)

No more shiny ideas for me. I just watch episodes of The Vampire Diaries on my i pod, and eat. The deterioration of a human being. So sad.

Erica, I work through a lot of ideas in bed. Sometimes I'll lay face down until a solution works itself out. That's awesome you're writing a series!

Good luck Gypsy!

Nadine, I'm right there with you. (my first thought was you mean writing won't bring in money? lol)

Robin, at least you're making good use of your time. How's the screenplay coming along?

Oooh, I love new ideas. Often I get too many of them.

I have a new idea too, but it's a secret to be revealed once I work some things out.
