My aunt has an article in the Huffington Post called What's the Oldest Item in Your Refrigerator?
I am "the niece." I also took the picture.
I wasn't planning to tell my gramma that I took pictures, but I guess the cat's out of the bag. Now I'm off to the grocery store to restock her salad dressing and bbq sauce.

(He Robin) I would say that truly, now you are famous.
:D
And here I thought just having some things that were a couple years old was bad!
LOL- That's awesome. I can't believe how old that jelly is!!!!
Merry Christmas Mel :o)
Hah! A family heirloom, huh? I dare you to open it. I dare you. I dare you to open it and take BIG SNIFF.
Merry Christmas, Melanie! And send some hugs to Owen and Ibis!
You're FAMOUS!!!!!!!!!! Hee hee.. Happy Christmas Eve!
OMG, that is so cool!! And the photo credit links to your website!! Yay!! I hope this brings more good things!
BTW: That jelly is older than Taylor Swift!!
*My word verification is grancus. My definition, pertinent to this post: the habit of grandparents keeping things much longer than needed. Example: Grandma did a grancus - look at this jelly!
LOL Awesome! I don't think I will ever be able to think of moldy cheese without thinking of you. :p
Actually, there are a lot of people in my family who HATE to throw food away. For us, leftovers are thrown out after three days and NOTHING is allowed in our fridge past the ex. date.
I went to my aunt's house last month (I do adore my aunt... just so you know) and she gave us sliced pickles with our lunch. The pickles seemed a bit 'soggy' and my hubby checked the jar. Those pickles were three YEARS past their expiration date. OMG!!! (I still adore my aunt though!)
Ferret, I don't feel nearly so bad about all my old stuff.
Thanks Erica! You too!
Natasha, there was no WAY I was opening that thing! There were several jars that I normally would have emptied before throwing out, but there was no way...
Colby, it's already going to my head. ;)
Nadine, that's hilarious!
JLC, I remember you saying that about leftovers. I allow them for a week, but by then I'm doing the sniff test. I never thought about soggy pickles being a sign they're expired. Yuck!
I love jalapenos so that jelly would sound really good if it hadn't been made the year that Die Hard and Crocodile Dundee II came out.
That is hilarious! Every time I hear the words "Huffington Post" I think of the Tracy Ullman skit where she's trying to figure out what to wear to "The Bloggies". It never ceases to crack me up.
Gypsy, that's hilarious!
Robin, I love Tracy Ullman, but I haven't seen that skit. To funny.
